Unless you've been living under a rock for the last while it probably won't have escaped your attention that Marvel have a new TV project out there in the form of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Showing on ABC in America and on Channel 4 here in the UK. It's connected to the Marvel Studios movies, is being overseen by Avengers movie head honcho Joss Whedon, features Agent Coulsen (played by Clark Gregg) of Iron Man and Avengers movie fame.
Despite being set primarily (as you might expect) in America the series does have a British presence in the form of SHIELD scientists Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) and Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker), representing England and Scotland respectively. At this stage it's hard to say what actual 'superheroes' we'll see featuring in the series, mind. The likelihood of anything more than a cameo appearance by the likes of Captain America, Iron Man or Thor is slim.
This is TV. Much smaller budget. :)
However, this evening on Clark Gregg's official Twitter account somebody raised the question of whether we might be seeing any British heroes showing up in the series.
And he answered.
With this.
Make of that what you will. It's certainly not an official confirmation to the fact, but it certainly sounds a little promising.
But who might that be? Captain Britain? Pete Wisdom? Or the introduction of MI13 into the Marvel TV and Movie universe?
Or maybe Union Jack. He has, after all, already appeared in a fashion. While not costumed, JJ Field played James Montgomery Falsworth (the original Union Jack from WW1) in the Captain America movie, a prisoner of war who joined forces with Steve Rogers' unit. There have been three incarnations of Union Jack over the years. Three different time periods. It's plausible.
Who knows?
I'm sure we'll see in due course.
In the meantime, let the speculation begin... :)
